Welcome to the Marine Corps Toys For Tots website for Catawba County, North Carolina. As we have no Marine Corps Reserve component in our area, this campaign is organized and conducted by volunteers who are members of Marine Corps League, Detachment 1163. Due to manpower and logistics, these volunteers pick up and drop off toys for our charitable partners.
We do not take applications for nor do we distribute the toys we collect. This is handled by our charitable partners. In Catawba County we have partnered with the Christmas Bureau.
These charitable partners handle all applications for toys, determine who is eligible to receive assistance and distribute the toys we collect. Therefore, you will need to follow the below instructions to apply for the receipt of assistance in this area.
The Catawba County Christmas Bureau is a collaborative effort among many Catawba County agencies and organizations to provide toys, clothing and coats to children and teenagers in need of assistance during the Christmas season. Families served must be residents of Catawba County.
The Salvation Army of Greater Hickory & High Country will be taking applications
ONLINE APPLICATIONS ONLY – September 28th through October 12th
REQUIRED Documentation for Registration below.
- Photo ID or passport for each applying adult (not expired)
- Birth certificate OR shot record for all children in the household
- Custody papers as applicable
- Current food stamp award letter (not the card) OR proof of all monthly income and expenses
- Proof of Catawba County residency
- Information for all children in household 12 & under
- Teenagers (13 – 17) who are still in school, will receive gift cards for clothes
You can use your phone to take a picture of the documents and then upload them. They need to be uploaded for the application to be approved.
For those needing assistance uploading documents, there will be limited in-person appointments. These appointments will be on October 1st, 6th, and 8th. To request an appointment, call United Way at 828-327-6851 (Mon.-Thurs. 8am-5pm).
Once you submit your application, please allow up to
ONE FULL WEEK to receive confirmation that your application has been approved and your appointment for pickup set during distribution.
